Layered Stew

Wife told me this simple recipe when I was left to feed myself in the states. I managed to burn my stew. It was still delicious and sustained me for 3 days until the chef came back. The chef then … Continue reading

ZongZi in November

ZongZi (粽子) is one of my favorite foods. When I was growing up, the best time was ZongZi trading. Each family made its own and traded with friends and neighbors. Mom always put little ribs in hers, instead of boneless … Continue reading

Hell’s Kitchen

I avoid reality shows, unless when I have been hooked. Then I thank Hulu for allowing me to finish the season in one long sitting. Can I say I watch Hell’s Kitchen for education? I frequent restaurants reasonably and really … Continue reading

iPod Touch v. iPhone

Yesterday, I found the new 64GB iPod Touch on sales for $379. Next to it was the 32GB version for $279, almost 30% drop since I bought mine 6 months ago. I felt stupid. In many social occasions recently, I … Continue reading

Water Leak

Bad things are good at choosing the worst timing. We needed to be away better part of this Saturday. Everything was planned and arranged: set the timer to turn on lights, arranged a friend to feed/walk dog, programmed GPS, chose … Continue reading

Sudoku

It is not a difficult, but it demands concentration, good memory, and logic to play. It also takes practices, lots of them, to play well. Wait. These are the same requirements for pretty much everything in life. Aren’t they? I … Continue reading

Lynbrook’s Solar Panels

Canadian Summer

I decided that I like Canada, probably because I always visited in the summer. The sceneries are beautiful and people friendly. English works and stores accept US dollars. Where else can you find wild blossoms with glaciers as backdrop? People … Continue reading

Capresé for lunch

Some things are just delicious together: dark chocolate and coffee, robust red wine and juicy steak, cold beer and tortilla chips. Capresé salad represents the perfect trio: tomato, fresh mozzarella, and basil leaves. It is almost the simplest dish to … Continue reading
